Support Our Mission.

You can help ensure that those in need have access to treatment.

Since our founding in 1985, our mission has been to provide quality care to individuals and families affected by alcoholism and/or drug addiction by promoting lifelong continued recovery. Each month, we receive phone calls from men and women who need help but lack the means to pay for treatment. This is where your donation can help.

Your support will help pay for someone who otherwise could not have afforded treatment, allowing them the opportunity to receive the life-changing help they desperately need. In addition, your donation may be eligible for a NAP tax credit from the state of Indiana.

Your Donation Could Qualify for NAP Tax Credits.

Tara Treatment Center is authorized to offer NAP tax credits as an added incentive for your charitable donation. This means that 50 percent of donations greater than $100 will be refunded to you in the form of tax credits toward your Indiana state tax burden. These tax credits are in addition to any federal tax deductions and credits for which you may also be eligible.

A few criteria must be met for you to be eligible for an NAP tax credit:

  • Your donation must be no less than $100.
  • You must pay income taxes in the state of Indiana.
  • Tara Treatment Center must have tax credits left to award for the program year.
Directions for Donors
  1. Make a donation in any of the eligible contribution formats to an approved NAP organization with available credits.
  2. Complete a completed Donor Contribution Form for the NAP organization’s records and keep a copy for your own records. Please include your Social Security number, full address, the tax year ending and telephone number. The form must be signed. The NC-10 form is no longer used in this program.
  3. If the credit is for the Donor’s personal taxes, then the donation must be in their name and come from their personal account. If the donor wants the donation to go on their business taxes then the donation must be in the business name.
  4. Claim the donation on Schedule 6 using code 828. No form is required to submit.
  5. If IDOR rejects your credit, contact the NAP organization to confirm what was reported to IHCDA. Most credit rejections are the result of an incorrectly reported SSN or donation amount, or a donor being left off the donor report.

About the Program

The Neighborhood Assistance Program (or NAP) is an initiative of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority. Each year, NAP offers $2.5 million in tax credits to not-for-profit organizations for use toward certain neighborhood-based programs and projects. These tax credits may then be issued to individuals who make charitable donations to the organization.
